THE MEANING OF "THE KINGDOM OF GOD" SUFFERETH VIOLENCE"

Jesus said in Matthew 11:12, "And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force."

It simply means that from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of God is as though being taken by storm by those pressing to obtain a blessing and those who make forceful [violent] attempts, take the blessings.

    Is this verse the opposite of Matthew 6:6?

      No, it is not the opposite. Matthew 6:6 requires that you pray in private [secret]. You can pray in private and still make your prayer vehement, forceful or fervent. James 5:16 says, "...The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Do you remember the story of Jonah in the bible? We were thought that due to his disobedience to God that the Lord allowed a whale to swallow him. Well, the bible never mentioned that it was a whale that swallowed him. The Bible says that God “prepared a great fish” (Jonah_ 1:17). In the language of Jonah’s day, “great fish” could mean any large creature of the sea. In fact the Hebrew word used was the normal word for "fish". IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING CLEANSED AND BEING MADE WHOLE?

Many Christians believe that the word translated “whole” in Luke 17:19 KJV refers to both physical and spiritual healing and that the nine lepers  in the chapter received only physical healing because they did not return to give thanks to Jesus where as the leper that returned to give thanks to Jesus received both physical and spiritual healing. They believe all the lepers were cleansed but the one that returned to Jesus got something extra which is that he was made whole (i.e his limbs which may have been lost or deformed as a result of the leprosy were restored or that he got salvation for his soul). Though this may be true, there's however a more likely possibility that the leper did not get something more than the rest of the nine. The bible defines eternal life in John 17:3 as thus: (John 17:3 KJV) And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.  To know God eternally is eternal life. WERE JESUS AND JOHN THE BAPTIST COUSINS?

(Luke 1:36 KJV) And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. The King James Version (KJV) of the above verse seems to suggest that Mary, the mother of Jesus and Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist were cousins. It is worthy to note that the Hebrew language has no word for cousin. The word translated cousin in the above verse is from the Greek word, suggenes which has same meaning as countryman, kinswoman, relative, one of the same race.  Also note that the word "cousin" used to mean any relative in the 17th century when the KJV was written.
