BIBLE MEANING OF THE TERM "MAN OF GOD"

The term “Man of God” was used in the bible in reference to 13 individuals who were mostly known to be prophets. It means God’s spokesman; one who mediates between God and man and even representatives, of Christ, who is the one true and only Mediator between God and man. 

 The term was applied to Moses, Samuel, David, Shemaiah, Elijah, Elisha, and other prophets, and to Timothy in the New Testament.

 It was equally used in Judges 13:6, 8 in reference to angel Gabriel whom Manoah and the wife called a Man of God. Their usage of the term in these verses is considered appropriate seeing that the name Gabriel means “Man of God”, “Strong [or Mighty] Man of God”, “the Power of God” or “Strength of God” and he is also God’s spokesman.

There is so much misunderstanding in the Church today regarding the gift of prophecy. Many people believe that prophecy only refers to telling something before it happens. However, even in the Old Testament, the messages of the prophets contained as much, if not more, about the present than they did about the future. In Hebrew, the word translated prophecy is based on the word stem nābā, which simply means “to speak by divine inspiration, either in prediction or simple discourse.”  “ Prophecies ” is transliterated (i.e. brought straight over from Greek to English) from the noun  prophēteia . JESUS SAID YOU MUST BE “BORN FROM ABOVE” NOT "BORN AGAIN"?

The term " Born Again Christian " is used to describe anyone that has received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Saviour. One who believes in Jesus Christ and one who has been regenerated through the agent of the Holy Spirit. The phrase "born again" can be seen in John chapter 3 in King James Version (KJV) and most other English Bible Versions. (John 3:3 KJV) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again , he cannot see the kingdom of God.  (John 3:3 CEV)  "Jesus replied, "I tell you for certain that you must be born from above before you can see God's kingdom!"  The Greek phrase is gennēthē anōthen which generally means "begotten from above" or "born from above". 2 KINGS 3:27: THE INDIGNATION AGAINST ISRAEL WHEN THE KING OF MOAB BURNT A HUMAN BEING WAS NOT FROM GOD

One of the famous stories in the Bible is this story that was recorded in the book of 2 Kings chapter 3. The controversy in the story is in verse 27 where the Bible recorded that there was great indignation against Israel after the King of Moab made a burnt offering of a human being on the wall. (2 Kings 3:27 KJV) Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.  Many believe that it was God that raised an indignation against Israel. However, it could not have been God as God could not have accepted human sacrifice going by His nature. WHY THE “LORD’S PRAYER” IS NOT FOR BELIEVERS TODAY.

In my earlier post I pointed out that Jesus' Prayer to the Father in John chapter 17 is more appropriate to be called "The Lord's Prayer" and not the one in Matthew chapter 6. Read it here in case you missed it. There is no record in the bible that the apostles and disciples of Jesus ever prayed this prayer in Matthew chapter 6. DOES EPHESIANS 4:8 TEACH THAT CHRIST TOOK PEOPLE "CAPTIVE" AND LED THEM TO HEAVEN?

Ephesians 4:8: “Wherefore he says, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.”  Does this verse teach that Christ takes people “captive” and leads them to heaven? How does Christ lead “CAPTIVITY CAPTIVE”? What does this short phrase mean? The great universal church teaches that this is a reference to LIMBUS PATRI—meaning the place of limbo occupied by the fathers (Old Testament fathers like Abraham, Moses, David, Samuel, Isaiah, etc.). Their idea asserts that these men were captives trapped in limbo before Christ “ascended” to heaven and made it possible for them to go there, too. In this way, Christ supposedly led “captivity (the fathers) captive” to Himself and took them to heaven.  This whole concept seems silly—when one thinks of men trapped in captivity in some vague spiritual “neverland” or “prison” for thousands of years until Christ could “free” them.  The real meaning here is simply that those who serve sin are captive to it ...

COMEDY IN CHURCH: WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT JOKES?

It seems that the days when church services and programs were organized for spiritual edification of believers in some churches are gone. These days it seems to take more than music, prayers and sermon to get Christians excited about going to church. Stand-up comedy has been added in a bid to, informally, entertain the congregants before they are ministered to. It is getting harder not to be concerned by some of the jokes comedians crack about sacred topics, biblical heroes and ministers of the gospel from the pulpits during events that are supposed to be a period for sober reflection and divine encounter.  What does the bible say about these things?
