YOU CANNOT PRAY TO JESUS IN THE NAME OF JESUS

It does not have any spiritual meaning. This could be why most prayers are not answered. You cannot ask or pray to Jesus in the name of Jesus. Stop praying such prayers: "Jesus I come to you in the name of Jesus"

You can only pray to the Father in the name of Jesus.

What does it mean to pray in the name of Jesus?
Praying in Jesus' name means praying with His authority. It is making a demand in His stead (place); as if He is the one making it.

Authority means delegated power. You cannot exercise an authority on the same person that gave it to you. Look at it this way, you cannot go to the President of your country to make a demand in the name of that President rather you can go to another President in the name of your own President.

Jesus said pray to the Father in His name:

John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
Verse 26 & 27 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

  1. If that was the case Jesus would have told us to just pray to him but he didn't. He rather said in the verse above that He will not pray to the Father for you. You cannot pray to him in his name. There is no where in the bible that He said you should pray to Jesus or Holy Spirit directly but that you should pray in His Name. Check out how he prayed himself. All prayers go to the Father in the Name of Jesus.

  2. There are prayers that will get God's attention (i.e the ones He hears) and there are those He does not hear. Check out this verse in 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: vs15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

In other words if we don't pray according to His will (including prescribed pattern of prayer), He will not hear us. We will accomplish much result if we follow His prescribed pattern in John 16:24-27

  3. If the idea was for us to pray to either of the three directly, Jesus won't have made the statement, "I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you" and distinguish himself from the Father. He would have known that there won't be need for Him to pray to the Father as far as the prayer is to any of them.

  4. The reason the disciples did not have to ask God the Father for anything in Jesus' name was that they could ask Jesus. When they needed food, clothing, tax money, or anything else, they could go to Jesus. But the time was approaching when Jesus would no longer be with them in the flesh, and a new dispensation would be ushered in. They had been living under the Law of Moses, and that Law would terminate with Jesus' death, burial, resurrection, and ascension. Once all this happened, the day of the Law would end, and the day of grace would begin.
According to John 16:23-24, how we ask God for something should basically follow these lines: If we ask the Father for something, we have to ask in Jesus' name. That is a legal transaction, such as signing your name at the bottom of a check. And just as your check will not be cashed if it does not have your signature on it, your prayer will not be answered unless you "sign" it, so to speak, "In Jesus' name." It is not because God is being mean or inconsiderate, but simply because that is how He designed the system.
