JOHN 9:39 - DID JESUS COME TO JUDGE THE WORLD?

According to John 9:39, Jesus stated that he came to judge this world.

(John 9:39 KJV) And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.

However in John 8:15 and 12:47 he equally stated that he came not to judge the world but to save it. John also made similar assertion in John 3:17.

(John 8:15 KJV) Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

(John 12:47 KJV) And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

(John 3:17 KJV) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Are these statements contradictory? My answer is NO. 

Jesus did not come to judge the world. The primary purpose for his first coming was to bring salvation and give eternal life to all who believes. This purpose was accomplished through his death and resurrection. So he was absolutely right when he said he did not come to judge the world as that was not his primary purpose. He did not come to bring punishment or destruction rather he brought the means of salvation and gives eternal life to anyone who believes.

In John 9:39, the sense in which the word judgement was used is that of comparison, distinction [distinguishment] between light and darkness; between those that [spiritually] see and those that are [spiritually] blind. The word translated as judgement is from the Greek word, kríma which is derived from krínō. It also means "to distinguish".

 Notice that there are different meanings of the word judge. It can be:
  1. to condemn.
  2. to judicially decide a case by either declaring one innocent or guilty; deserving of punishment.
  3. to make an observation, a judgment call.
  4. to make a comparison.
  5. to govern.

It is however worthy of note that God's eternal judgement has been reserved for Jesus' second coming.

WHY DID OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST NOT PERFORM MANY MIRACLES IN NAZARETH?

I have heard a lot of Preachers say that Jesus could not perform many miracle in Nazareth because the people's unbelief neutralized His power. They go as far as dramatizing it by showing that Jesus tried to heal a blind eye, a deaf ear or a lame man but couldn't because their unbelief neutralized Jesus' power. WHAT IS THE POSITION OF THE BIBLE ON ALCOHOL?

Scripture has much to say regarding the drinking of alcohol (Leviticus 10:9; Numbers 6:3; Deuteronomy 29:6; Judges 13:4, 7, 14 Proverbs 20:1; 31:4; Isaiah 5:11, 22; 24:9; 28:7; 29:9; 56:12). However, Scripture does not necessarily forbid a Christian from drinking beer, wine, or any other drink containing alcohol. In fact, some Scriptures discuss alcohol in positive terms. Ecclesiastes 9:7 instructs, "Drink your wine with a merry heart." Psalm 104:14-15 states that God gives wine "that makes glad the heart of men." Amos 9:14 discusses drinking wine from your own vineyard as a sign of God's blessing. Isaiah 55:11 encourages, "Yes, come buy wine and milk"" There is only one group of people who are explicitly told in the Bible to never drink wine/alcohol, and that is the Nazirites (Numbers 6:1-4). GOD MADE ADAM BOTH MALE AND FEMALE.

This should be obvious but it seems a lot of people are having problem with it. God made Adam male and female. In other words, when Adam was first created he was both male and female. For people that are finding it hard to accept this is what the bible says: (Genesis 1:27 KJV) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (Genesis 5:2 KJV) Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam , in the day when they were created. The first scripture in using the term "them" still seem to suggest that it was talking about both Adam and Eve and not only Adam at first. However the accounts in Matthew chapter 19 and Mark chapter 10 will give more insight. DOES THE BIBLE STATE THAT THE WORD "LUCIFER" IS THE NAME OF THE DEVIL?

The word lucifer is used only once in the English Bible and it is in Isaiah 14:12. Isaiah 14:12: “ How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!" It is from the Latin term lucem ferre , which literally means “bringer, or bearer of light, the shining one, the son of the dawn, the morning star (the star we now know by another Roman name, Venus). IS GOD SO UNFORGIVING IN THE OLD TESTAMENT BUT MORE FORGIVING IN THE NEW TESTAMENT?

The view that God is associated with fear in the Old Testament and love in the New Testament stems from the perception that God manifests different natures or attributes under the two testaments. The fact is that God never changes His nature and attributes but the manner of His revelation.  In the Old Testament, God is commonly identified with the laws He gave to Moses and his influence appears to be closely restricted to the Jews, His covenant people. The rest of the world appear isolated and are often depicted as hostile to God and to His people. This is a continuation of my previous post " Is The Rapture Biblical " Why would the saints rise to meet Christ in the air, when He is on His way to the earth to defeat evil and to establish the Kingdom of God here? Why not simply wait for Him to arrive? Those who teach the rapture make much of this issue, claiming that it buttresses their theory. In fact, the truth of the matter actually further discredits their erroneous teaching. We need to look at the meaning of the Greek term translated “to meet” that Christ inspired Paul to use in 1 Thessalonians 4:17. MEDITATION: THE BIBLE WAY OF MEDITATING

The concept of meditation has been mostly appropriated to other religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism and other eastern religions. Sadly, some Christians today have never practiced meditation the bible way, and typically when you ask some believers how many of them meditate on a regular basis, the answer is only a few.  There are many forms of meditations encompassing practices from different traditions, cultures, spiritual disciplines, and religions which are not in line with the concept of biblical meditation. Some of them include: Silent meditation which involves simply sitting in quiet without thoughts for anything. Calming meditation which involves focusing on a particular object which could be your breath, a mantra, a visualization without focus on God and His Word . Yoga meditation which may include sitting calmly on a rug, and/or listening to sonorous music. Biblical meditation is not even primarily for relaxation, although you may find it calming and comforting. It is not
