WHAT IS ETERNAL LIFE?

The bible defines eternal life in John 17:3 as thus:

(John 17:3 KJV) And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 

To know God eternally is eternal life. To know him for a time like Adam is temporary life

Eternal life is not prolonged existence or eternal continuance of being, for all the wicked have this and will be punished in conscious existence forever.

(Matthew 25:41 KJV) Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

It is not merely eternal existence but eternal knowing of God.

However the bible shows that he took both Leah and Rachel immediately before he began serving Laban. Most of us are very familiar with the story in Matthew chapter 16 where Jesus said that Simon, who was one of His disciples, is Peter (which means rock). The question is, why did Jesus call him Rock? The verse seems to suggest that God regretted His action of creating man on earth.
