WAS JESUS CRUCIFIED ON A CROSS OR TREE?

Image
In the English Bible, several verses stated that Jesus was crucified on a cross, yet several others stated that it was on a tree. Which one is it? (Mark 15:21 KJV) And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross . (Matthew 27:40 KJV) And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross . (John 19:19 KJV) And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross . And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. (1 Corinthians 1:18 KJV) For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. (Acts 10:39 KJV) And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree : (Galatians 3:13 KJV) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it i...

EVIDENCE THAT THE SIX DAYS ACCOUNT OF GENESIS IS THAT OF RESTORATION NOT ORIGINAL CREATION

Image
The Bible shows that only Genesis 1:1 gives the account of the original creation. Here, God created a perfect world. However, in Genesis 1:2, something happened to the perfect earth which caused it to become formless and void. From Genesis 1:3, the Bible describes the restoration of the earth to its perfection earth. It is not describing the original creation. Here is the evidence that the six days account of Genesis chapter 1 from verse 3 is that of restoration of the earth and not the original creation: It is a fact that dry land must have been created before the waters, or there would have been no place to hold the waters. More so, comparing Genesis 1:1 to Genesis 1:10, we see that " earth " and " dry land " are synonymous. (Genesis 1:1 KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:10 KJV) And God called the dry land Earth ; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good . So since the earth was orig...

WHY DID GOD REFER TO ISAAC AS ABRAHAM’S ONLY SON? WHAT HAPPENED TO ISHMAEL?

Image
Abraham had two sons, the one by Sarah (a freewoman) and the other by Hagar (a bondwoman). However, we see in Genesis chapter 22 that in three different occasions, God referred to Isaac as the only son of Abraham, in total disregard of Ishmael as a son. So, in what sense is Isaac the only Son of Abraham? (Genesis 22:2 KJV) And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. (Genesis 22:12 KJV) And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. (Genesis 22:16 KJV) And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son , thine only son. First notice that the second time the word ‘ son ’ is used in all the above verses, it is in italics, indica...

IF THE SUN WAS CREATED ON DAY 4, WHAT IS THE LIGHT ON DAY 1?

Image
The Bible stated in the book of Genesis chapter 1 that on the first day God said, "Let there be light and there was light". Yet in verse 16, the Bible stated that in day 4, God made two great lights which we have come to know as the sun and the moon. The question is, "if the sun was created on day 4, what is the light on day 1?" (Genesis 1:3-5 KJV) And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. (Genesis 1:14-15 KJV) And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. (Genesis 1:16 KJV) And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule t...

BIBLE: IS BETTING A SIN?

Image
The Bible does not explicitly mention betting or gambling. However, it does mention events of “luck” or “chance”. Examples of verses where such events are stated below: (Leviticus 16:8-10 KJV) And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat. And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD’S lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering. But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness. (Joshua 18:10 KJV) And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the LORD: and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Israel according to their divisions. (1 Samuel 14:42 KJV) And Saul said, Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son. And Jonathan was taken. (John 19:23-24 KJV) Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also h...

DOES JOHN 9:2 TEACH REINCARNATION?

Image
(John 9:2 KJV) And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? There are some people who tried to read reincarnation into the above verse. They say that the only way the man could have sinned before his birth was for him to have lived a previous life in another body, (i.e through reincarnation). However, you need to understand that reincarnation was not behind the disciples' question. Rather, behind this question was the assumption of those days, that a child could sin in the womb. For instance, there were some early Jews that assumed that God chose Jacob over Esau because Esau quarreled with his brother in the womb (Genesis 25:22 ISV) But when the infants kept on wrestling each other inside her womb, she asked herself, "Why is this happening?" So she asked the LORD for an explanation. This assumption of course is erroneous and Jesus specifically refuted it in verse 3 of John chapter 9 (John 9:3 CEV) "No,...

2 KINGS 3:27: THE INDIGNATION AGAINST ISRAEL WHEN THE KING OF MOAB BURNT A HUMAN BEING WAS NOT FROM GOD

Image
One of the famous stories in the Bible is this story that was recorded in the book of 2 Kings chapter 3. The controversy in the story is in verse 27 where the Bible recorded that there was great indignation against Israel after the King of Moab made a burnt offering of a human being on the wall. (2 Kings 3:27 KJV) Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.  Many believe that it was God that raised an indignation against Israel. However, it could not have been God as God could not have accepted human sacrifice going by His nature. More so, God could not have been angry with Israel for an act of the King of Moab and for carrying out His command to them, through His prophet, to "smite every fenced city and every choice city".  (2 Kings 3:18-19 KJV) And this is but a light thing in the sight of the ...

ANCIENT OF DAYS - THE ONE WHO SITS ON THE THRONE

Image
In the book of Daniel chapter 7, the title "Ancient of days" was used by the prophet to describe his vision. (Daniel 7:9 KJV) I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. (Daniel 7:13-14 KJV) I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. Whilst sometimes the title relates to God the Father, most properly it relates to God the Son (Jesus). There is no doubt that the references in Daniel chapter 7 is to God the Son. The only reason many believe that...

JESUS CALLED HIS FATHER, "MY GOD". CAN GOD HAVE GOD?

Image
In the book of John 20:17, Jesus address His Father as "My God". Also he called Him "My God" in the book of Matthew 27:46 and Revelation 3:12. There are other Bible references where the terms, "God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ" were used. Does it mean Jesus is not the true God since he has someone he calls God? (John 20:17 KJV) Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God , and your God.  (Matthew 27:46 KJV) And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God , my God, why hast thou forsaken me?  (Revelation 3:12 KJV) Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God , and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God , which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God...

DO CHRISTIANS WORSHIP THREE GODS?

Image
When Christians worship God (the Father), Jesus (God the Son) and the Holy Spirit (God the Spirit), non Believers accuse them of worshipping three Gods. Are they right in this accusation? Do Christians worship three Gods? What does the Bible say? The Bible says the Lord our God is one. In other words, there is only one true God. This is the same God that Christians worship. (Deuteronomy 6:4 AMP) “Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one [the only God]! The Bible also tells us through the words of Jesus, that God is invisible and that God desires that those that worship Him must worship Him in His invisible [Spirit] state as well as in His visible [reality] state, which the Bible called truth. (John 4:23 NLT) But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. (John 4:24 AMP) God is spirit [the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who wo...

WHO SHOULD WE PRAY TO? THE FATHER OR THE SON OR THE HOLY SPIRIT?

Image
The answer to this question, "who should we pray to" should be straightforward after a study of the Bible. Yet a lot of Christians are still not certain who they should address their prayers to. While many pray to the Father, others pray to Jesus in the name of Jesus. Yet a few others pray to the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus. Should we only pray to the Father in the name of Jesus? Or is it appropriate to pray directly to Jesus? Is it appropriate to pray directly to the Holy Spirit? Is it appropriate to pray in the name of the Father? But you may say, does it really matter who we address our prayers to since it is answered anyway? Afterall, the three Persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are God and they all agree in one. Well, even though you have been receiving some answers to your prayers, the right knowledge of who you should address your prayers may be all you need to receive many more answered prayers. The Bible tells us that God overlooks our days of ignor...

IN WHAT SENSE IS JESUS THE SON OF GOD?

Image
By revelation, we know and believe that Jesus is the Son of God, the Creator of heaven and earth. In other words, the Almighty God is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. The question that many ask is, "if God does not have a wife, how is Jesus His Son?"  This question comes from the expectation that for one to be called a son, there must be a process of conception; i.e the process of becoming physically pregnant and child birth. Therefore, they say, since God has no wife, Jesus could not have been the Son of God. So we ask the question, in what sense then is Jesus the Son of God? Is He the Son of God the same way Adam was called the son of God in the book of Luke?  (Luke 3:38 KJV) Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God . The answer is NO. In writing about the genealogy of Jesus, Luke assigned Adam as the son of God since he did not have a human father or mother. Adam was the son of God because God created him...

MISINTERPRETED: ONE WILL BE TAKEN AND THE OTHER LEFT

Image
One of the Bible verses that is most popularly misinterpreted is Matthew chapter 24 verse 40. (Matthew 24:40 KJV) Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  Many Christians believe that the one that is taken, is the one that is raptured and taken to heaven while the one that is left is the one that is left on earth to suffer tribulation. However, a study of this verse in context shows that this verse has nothing to do with rapture or going to heaven and that the one that is "taken" is even the wicked not the righteous. (Matthew 24:37-41 KJV) But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and...

DID JESUS ASCEND TO HEAVEN TWICE?

Image
The question of Jesus ascending twice to heaven is not often asked because there is this general acceptance of only one ascension of Jesus which occurred in Acts 1:9, Mark 16:19 and Luke 24:51 (Acts 1:9 KJV) And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. (Mark 16:19 KJV) So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. (Luke 24:51 KJV) And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. However, there is an evidence in the Bible that He had earlier ascended to His Father in Heaven prior to this final ascension in the above verses.  Before His death, Jesus specifically told His disciples in the book of John chapter 16 that He would be going to His Father (which is in Heaven). (John 16:16-17 KJV) A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Fat...

WHY DID JESUS APPEAR TO ONLY A FEW PEOPLE AFTER RESURRECTION AND NOT TO EVERYONE?

Image
People who do not want to believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ will always find a reason not to. They asked, "why did Jesus appear to only a few people after resurrection and not to everyone? Why did He not appear to everyone at the temple in order to desolve all doubts. Well, the Bible recorded that after Jesus rose from the dead, He appeared to many people including Mary Magdalene, various other women, two disciples (whose names were not given), the 11 apostles and over 500 people at the same time. His appearance to these over 500 people may have been at the temple as expected by these unbelivers though the Bible did not record that.  (John 20:11-16 KJV) But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have ...

WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF THE CHRISTIAN CROSS BY RENO OMOKRI

Image
Every day, Christians in their hundreds of millions make the sign of the Cross and think they are performing an act of faith pleasing to God. But is that really what we are doing? I had heard and read about the true origins of the Cross, and in 2019, I travelled to Ethiopia to celebrate Meskel, which is a celebration of the discovery of the true Cross in Ethiopian orthodox Christianity. I am a truth seeker, and I wanted to get to the truth no matter whose religious feathers are ruffled. I was told that if I wanted to get to the bottom of the mystery behind the Cross, then Israel and Ethiopia were not the best starting point. I was directed to Egypt, and off I went. I engaged the services of a licensed ancient Egyptian historian and we began investigating. And that was when I discovered the Ankh. So, how does the Ankh concern Christ and the Cross? The Ankh is an ancient Egyptian mystical symbol used to represent life. It is most commonly seen being held by Ancient Egyptian gods and was ...
