MISINTERPRETATION: 3 JOHN 1:2 - I WISH ABOVE ALL THINGS THAT YOU MAY PROSPER IS A GREETING/PRAYER AND NOT A DECLARATION FROM GOD

3 John 1:2 KJV Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Many Christians regard the above verse as a declaration from God of His desire to financially prosper believers. While we acknowledge the bible-fact that God's plan for His children is that of good and not of evil, however, the above verse is not a sovereign declaration of Almighty God; it is rather a greeting/prayer from Paul to Gaius. The verse is never God's promise to financially prosper any believer, which has faith, in this dispensation as some profess. Paul's statement in that verse is like saying, "Hello dear, I hope all is well with you. I wish you long life, good health and prosperity as you grow in the things of the spirit'. Here are other translations for better understanding:

3 Joh 1:2 CEV Dear friend, and I pray all goes well for you. I hope you are as strong in body, as I know you are in spirit.

3 Joh 1:2 ISV Dear friend, I pray that you are doing well in every way and that you are healthy, just as your soul is healthy.

3 Joh 1:2 GNT My dear friend, I pray that everything may go well with you and that you may be in good health--as I know you are well in spirit.

3 Joh 1:2 NLT Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.

Why not simply wait for Him to arrive? Those who teach the rapture make much of this issue, claiming that it buttresses their theory. We need to look at the meaning of the Greek term translated “to meet” that Christ inspired Paul to use in 1 Thessalonians 4:17. Dr. Leon Morris writes in the Tyndale New Testament Commentaries: “The expression translated to meet is kind of a technical term ‘for the official welcome of a newly arrived dignitary’…and is very suitable in this context.” Notice that it pertains to a newly arrived dignitary, not to one who is merely passing through. THE 70 WEEKS OF DANIEL CHAPTER 9

The seventy "weeks" of Daniel is about the prophecy given by angel Gabriel to Daniel in chapter 9 of the book of Daniel in verses 24-27 in respect of the people of Israel and Jerusalem. The seventy "weeks" is otherwise known as seventy "sevens" or 490 days (i.e. 70 multiplied by 7 days). In using the year-for-a-day principle of the scriptures for its interpretation, each day represents a year which means the 490 days represent 490 years.  Now, let us take step by step review of all aspects of this prophecy. There is so much misunderstanding in the Church today regarding the gift of prophecy. Many people believe that prophecy only refers to telling something before it happens. In Hebrew, the word translated prophecy is based on the word stem nābā, which simply means “to speak by divine inspiration, either in prediction or simple discourse.”  “ Prophecies ” is transliterated (i.e. brought straight over from Greek to English) from the noun  prophēteia . WHAT DOES THE BIBLE TEACH ABOUT GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON AND GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT?

The Hebrew word translated "God" in every passage of Genesis 1 as well as in more than 2,000 places throughout the Old Testament is Elohim. Elohim is a noun that is plural in form but normally singular in usage—that is, paired with singular verbs—when designating the true God. The word Eloah, meaning "Mighty One," is the singular form. Elohim, meaning "Mighty Ones," is plural. And, indeed, there are two Mighty Ones, the Most High and the Word. But, collectively, as Elohim, the two are seen as one God. We should note that since Elohim is used of the God family, each family member can be referred to by this word. In the book of Revelation chapter 4, the bible made mention of twenty-four elders sitting on thrones in Heaven. Let us read the bible verses: (Revelation 4:4 KJV) And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. IN ISAIAH 59:19, IT IS NOT THE ENEMY THAT COMES IN LIKE A FLOOD.

Most of us are familiar with this portion of the scripture:  (Isaiah 59:19 KJV)   “…… When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him . The King James Version (KJV) of the Bible seems to suggest that it is the enemy that will come in like a flood. Well the enemy is not the one that will come in like a flood rather it is the Lord that comes in like a flood (a rushing stream). The translators of King James Version of the Bible departed from the ancient versions which resulted in the misconception. The Amplified Version of the Bible puts it better: Isaiah 59:19 (AMP): So they will fear the name of the Lord from the west and His glory from the rising of the sun. For He will come in like a narrow, rushing stream which the breath of the Lord drives [overwhelming the enemy] In other words, He (Jehovah) shall come like a rushing stream which the breath of Jehovah (i.e., a strong and mighty wind) drives. WHY DID JESUS CALL SIMON, PETER (ROCK)?

Most of us are very familiar with the story in Matthew chapter 16 where Jesus said that Simon, who was one of His disciples, is Peter (which means rock). The question is, why did Jesus call him Rock? (Matthew 16:18 KJV) And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  (Matthew 16:18 NLT) Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. Before we answer the question, it is of note that there are many Believers and non Believers alike, who do not accept Peter as the Rock.
