GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS. IS THIS PASSAGE IN THE BIBLE?

This is one of the most quoted sayings of all times when it comes to God. The only problem is that it is not a verse in the Bible. Yes, God does work in ways we do not understand. This saying is most likely a simplified paraphrasing of the verse below.

Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

It is not that this saying is wrong, it is simply not in the Bible.

There is so much misunderstanding in the Church today regarding the gift of prophecy. Many people believe that prophecy only refers to telling something before it happens. However, even in the Old Testament, the messages of the prophets contained as much, if not more, about the present than they did about the future. In Hebrew, the word translated prophecy is based on the word stem nābā, which simply means “to speak by divine inspiration, either in prediction or simple discourse.”  “ Prophecies ” is transliterated (i.e. brought straight over from Greek to English) from the noun  prophēteia . JESUS SAID YOU MUST BE “BORN FROM ABOVE” NOT "BORN AGAIN"?

The term " Born Again Christian " is used to describe anyone that has received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Saviour. One who believes in Jesus Christ and one who has been regenerated through the agent of the Holy Spirit. The phrase "born again" can be seen in John chapter 3 in King James Version (KJV) and most other English Bible Versions. (John 3:3 KJV) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again , he cannot see the kingdom of God.  (John 3:3 CEV)  "Jesus replied, "I tell you for certain that you must be born from above before you can see God's kingdom!"  The Greek phrase is gennēthē anōthen which generally means "begotten from above" or "born from above". FACTS ABOUT JESUS BIRTH AND THE WISE MEN VISIT

Sometime after Jesus' birth, he was visited by Magi (magicians, or "wise-men"). We don't like the word magician so we soften it by interpreting it as "wise-men". Back then "Magi" were probably more highly educated and therefore wise. They probably studied many things including astronomy. That's why they paid attention to, and followed the "star". It may or may not have been a real star. It could have been a confluence of planets (most likely) or it could just as easily have been a miraculous event since God can do anything. BIBLE MEANING OF THE TERM "MAN OF GOD"

The term “Man of God” was used in the bible in reference to 13 individuals who were mostly known to be prophets. It means God’s spokesman; one who mediates between God and man and even representatives, of Christ, who is the one true and only Mediator between God and man.  The term was applied to Moses, Samuel, David, Shemaiah, Elijah, Elisha, and other prophets, and to Timothy in the New Testament. It was equally used in Judges 13:6, 8 in reference to angel Gabriel whom Manoah and the wife called a Man of God.  Their usage of the term in these verses is considered appropriate seeing that the name Gabriel means “Man of God”, “Strong [or Mighty] Man of God”, “the Power of God” or “Strength of God” and he is also God’s spokesman. “And there are three that bear record in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.” — 1 John 5:8 (KJV) This powerful verse doesn’t just offer poetic symbolism — it gives us three divine witnesses on earth that testify to the truth of Jesus Christ. "LET THE DEAD BURY THE DEAD" WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

It was usual among Jews to call sinners dead men, because they are dead in trespasses and sins. Some bible references in support of this include: Ephesians 2:1 In the past you were dead because you sinned and fought against God.  Contemporary English Version. Colossians 2:13 You were dead, because you were sinful and were not God's people. But God let Christ make you alive, when he forgave all our sins.  Contemporary English Version. 1 Pet 4:6 The good news has even been preached to the dead, so that after they have been judged for what they have done in this life, their spirits will live with God.  Contemporary English Version. 1 Timothy 5:6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth. THE BEGINNING AND THE ENDING

We read in Revelation 1:8, that the Lord is the Alpha and Omega: (Revelation 1:8 KJV) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending , saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. King James Version (KJV) of the Bible used the phrase " the beginning and the ending " to rightly explain the meaning of "Alpha and Omega". Notice that the above verse did not say, " the beginning and the end " like other verses in the book of Revelation. Rather it says, " the beginning and the ending " to remind us that the Lord knows no beginning, nor will he have any end with respect to time (year).  He shall continue to exist when all creatures shall cease to be.
