WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A MAN AFTER GOD'S HEART?

The Scriptures refer to King David as a man after God's own heart. This can be found in 1Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22: 

1 Samuel 13:14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee. 

Acts 13:22 says, “After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.” 

In both Scriptures the exact meanings of the Greek and Hebrew prepositions (le and kata respectively) are pretty broad, however, the context makes it clear that the meaning was basically "a man who seeks the same goals and desires that I have."

THE EYE OF THE NEEDLE

(Mark 10:25 KJV) It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle , than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.  Have you ever heard the teaching that the "eye of the needle" as used by our Lord Jesus Christ in the above verse is a small gate on the Jerusalem wall, besides the main gate, by which a camel can go through (not without difficulties though) if it is made to stoop and pushed through the gate with all its baggage removed? Most of those that offer this teaching believe that this statement of Jesus Christ concerning the rich man is exaggerated, hence they try to provide the above explanation to soften it down.  Well, there is no widely accepted evidence for the existence of such a small gate.  The statement of Jesus is rather a proverbial expression denoting something that is impossible for humans or very difficult. DID GOD REGRET CREATING MAN IN GENESIS 6:6?

Genesis 6:6 is one of those difficult verses in the bible of which different bible commentators have varied interpretations. The verse seems to suggest that God regretted His action of creating man on earth. JESUS CALLED HIMSELF THE "SON OF MAN". WHY CALL HIM THE "SON OF GOD"?

To begin, a word study of the term “ son of…” indicates that it can mean “ of the order of ” in certain contexts. The phrase is often used in this way in the Old Testament. For example, “sons of the prophets” meant “of the order of prophets” (1 Kings 20:35). “Sons of the singers” meant “of the order of singers” (Nehemiah 12:28 KJV). In the Old Testament, the bible used the phrase, " Son of Man" to refer to humanity (i.e. "of the order of humans") . In the Gospels, Jesus refers to Himself as “the Son of Man” (in third person) 77 times. The Son of Man is a title that he used exclusively in the New Testament. His disciples never addressed Him as such. Jesus used it to emphasize His humanity.  It is also a designation of the Messiah . IN ISAIAH 59:19, IT IS NOT THE ENEMY THAT COMES IN LIKE A FLOOD.

Most of us are familiar with this portion of the scripture:  (Isaiah 59:19 KJV)   “…… When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him . The King James Version (KJV) of the Bible seems to suggest that it is the enemy that will come in like a flood. Well the enemy is not the one that will come in like a flood rather it is the Lord that comes in like a flood (a rushing stream). The translators of King James Version of the Bible departed from the ancient versions which resulted in the misconception. The Amplified Version of the Bible puts it better: Isaiah 59:19 (AMP): So they will fear the name of the Lord from the west and His glory from the rising of the sun. For He will come in like a narrow, rushing stream which the breath of the Lord drives [overwhelming the enemy] In other words, He (Jehovah) shall come like a rushing stream which the breath of Jehovah (i.e., a strong and mighty wind) drives. DID JESUS ASCEND TO HEAVEN TWICE?

The question of Jesus ascending twice to heaven is not often asked because there is this general acceptance of only one ascension of Jesus which occurred in Acts 1:9, Mark 16:19 and Luke 24:51 (Acts 1:9 KJV) And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. (Mark 16:19 KJV) So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. (Luke 24:51 KJV) And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. However, there is an evidence in the Bible that He had earlier ascended to His Father in Heaven prior to this final ascension in the above verses.  Before His death, Jesus specifically told His disciples in the book of John chapter 16 that He would be going to His Father (which is in Heaven). Did you know that the Bible says that man was made a little lower than God? Do you know where it is in the Bible? It is in Psalms 8:5 and Hebrews 2:7. (Psalms 8:5 KJV) For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. (Hebrews 2:7 KJV) Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: The Hebrew word rendered angels in the above verses is Elohim (Elohiym) which should have been translated as God. WHY DID JESUS CALL SIMON, PETER (ROCK)?

Most of us are very familiar with the story in Matthew chapter 16 where Jesus said that Simon, who was one of His disciples, is Peter (which means rock). The question is, why did Jesus call him Rock? (Matthew 16:18 KJV) And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  (Matthew 16:18 NLT) Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.
